Vintage hardware can transform dressers

If you’re thinking about getting rid of an old dresser or door, you may want to reconsider.

Antique or vintage hardware can transform these pieces. Door or dresser pulls made from glass, porcelain, rubbed brass, aged rustic iron, industrial metal and other types of hardware materials can add style and interest.

Where to find these cool pieces? Estate sales, garage sales and flea markets are a great place to start.

One place to find these items in the Tampa area is Tampa Bay Salvage, which specializes in architectural salvage and antique house parts. The 4,000-square-foot warehouse offers a wide selection of antiques and more modern fixtures.

“We have quite a bit of a good selection, a little bit before the Victorian era to the 1950s, 1960s. Most items are from the 1920s, 1930s,” owner Josh White said.

Tampa Bay Salvage removes antique building parts from historic homes, churches, factories and industrial buildings to sell to the public.

Customers can also choose from a selection of “new old stock” or retro 1960s and 1970s furniture knobs salvaged from an old hardware store in Tampa.

The store is located at 700 N. Pinellas Ave., Tarpon Springs.
