Create beach table with simple steps

With a coat of paint or a few unique accent items, a beachy table can help transform an entire space inside or outside of the house.

Debbie Perez, owner of the design firm Tweak Your Space of Tampa, recommends using a color pallet that is more neutral or organic, such as white, distressed white or a rustic pine top. If color is the object, she suggests seagrass blue or green.

Perez said for table decor she uses traditional beach-themed wares.

“I use things like hurricane lanterns with sand or seashells in the bottom around a candle, linen material or wheat-like place mats,” she said. Driftwood also creates a unique space, she said,  especially when incorporated with candles.

When it comes to the table itself, she said she has seen everything from traditional to modern, and many people opt to restore or repurpose antique family pieces to fit the style they like.

“The type of beach-theme used should depend on the homeowner,” she said. “It should play on past experiences. Choose something that evokes emotion.”
